Scenic Hill Solar Announces Completion of the First Project Globally Featuring First Solar Series 7 Modules

Little Rock, Arkansas, July 24, 2024 – Scenic Hill Solar announced that it has completed and begun commercial operation of a 1.2 megawatt (MW) DC Solar project featuring First Solar Series 7 modules. This distributed generation (DG) project is believed to be the first to commercially deploy First Solar’s Series 7 TR1 photovoltaic (PV) modules in the world. The Scenic Hill Solar Project is located on approximately 13 acres in Stuttgart, Arkansas, and began commercial operations early in 2024.

“We are proud that this project marks the first global commercial deployment of First Solar Series 7 modules. Scenic Hill Solar and First Solar collaborate on a foundation of shared values: a belief in the importance of American solar manufacturing; a dedication to continued technological innovation in the United States; and a commitment to the principles of Responsible Solar,” stated Bill Halter, CEO, Scenic Hill Solar.

Scenic Hill Solar partnered with First Solar, and eight other leading American manufacturers of solar and battery storage equipment to launch the American Made, Arkansas Built Initiative™ in 2022. As part of this initiative, Scenic Hill Solar projects are utilized as sites for collaboration, research, and deployment of new American technologies.

“First Solar is proud to work with forward-thinking partners like Scenic Hill Solar, who are playing a pivotal role in the growth of solar energy across the great state of Arkansas and beyond,” stated Dr. Mounir El Asmar, Head of Strategic Accounts, First Solar. “Congratulations to Scenic Hill Solar on this landmark project.” First Solar’s responsibly produced, advanced thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules set industry benchmarks for quality, durability, reliability, design, and environmental performance. The company’s Series 7 TR1 modules, which are rated Silver in the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) global registry for sustainable electronics, have the lowest carbon and water footprint of any commercially available PV module today and are the world’s first solar modules to achieve the EPEAT Climate+ designation for meeting the ultra-low carbon threshold.

Scenic Hill Solar had the opportunity the opportunity to work with a variety of experienced partners for this project's completion; Axium Solar was the EPC and self-performed the electrical work, DC Solar performed the mechanical work, and PMI of Little Rock, Arkansas was responsible for the civil work.
